Olivet is a Bible word search for iPhone, made by Thulolab (“we”, “us”). This page explains what information the app uses, why, and who else handles it.
The short version
- There’s no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name or email address.
- Your progress and settings stay on your device.
- We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the app, through screen recordings, taps and game events, so we can make it easier to use. Olivet doesn’t know your name or email, so Clarity never receives them.
- There are no ads and nothing to buy. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
What stays on your device
Olivet keeps the following on your iPhone.
- Your progress: the passages you’ve found and read, your journeys, and your days with Scripture.
- Your settings, such as text size, difficulty, appearance, sound, haptics and reminder time.
- A short log of app events, kept on the device to help troubleshoot problems. The same events also go to Microsoft Clarity, as described below.
Deleting Olivet deletes all of this.
How we learn what to improve: Microsoft Clarity
We work with Microsoft Clarity to capture how you use and interact with Olivet, through usage measurements, heatmaps and session replays. This shows us where the app is confusing, where people get stuck, and what goes wrong, so we can fix it.
When Clarity runs
In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Olivet asks you first, the first time you open it. Nothing is sent to Clarity unless you tap Allow. Everywhere else, Clarity starts when you open Olivet.
Wherever you live, you can stop it at any time: open Settings in Olivet and turn off Share usage data. Nothing more is sent from then on.
What Clarity collects
- Recordings of Olivet’s screens as you use them, such as the puzzle grid, the passages and the menus, and how you move between them. Olivet has no text fields, accounts or payment screens, so the recordings show only the app’s own content.
- Your taps, swipes and other touches.
- Events in the game, such as starting, resuming or finishing a puzzle, using a hint, finding a bonus word, starting or finishing a journey, sharing a passage and reaching a milestone. These include which puzzle or journey they belong to, simple counts such as hints used or words found, and the app’s version number.
- Your approximate location, such as your country or region, which Clarity works out from your IP address.
- Technical information about how the app and Clarity are performing.
- A random identifier that Clarity creates and stores on your device, so it can tell that several sessions came from the same device.
What Clarity doesn’t collect
- Your keyboard, notifications, or anything outside Olivet.
- Your name, email address or Apple Account. Olivet doesn’t know them, and the random identifier isn’t linked to them.
How it’s used and kept
We use Clarity only to understand and improve Olivet. We don’t use it for advertising, and it isn’t used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Microsoft keeps session replays for 30 days. Heatmaps, and replays we save to study a particular problem, are kept for up to 9 months. After that, they’re deleted.
Microsoft processes this information on our behalf. To learn how Microsoft collects and uses data, read the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Permissions Olivet may ask for
- Notifications, only if you turn on a daily reminder. The reminder is scheduled on your device by iOS. You can turn it off in Olivet or in the Settings app at any time.
- Add to Photos, only if you save a passage card. Olivet can add the image, but it can’t see your photo library.
Olivet doesn’t use your camera, microphone, contacts or location services, and doesn’t use your device’s advertising identifier.
Read Aloud and sharing
Read Aloud uses your iPhone’s built-in voice. Nothing you hear is recorded or sent anywhere.
When you share a passage card, you choose where it goes using the iOS share sheet. We don’t see what you share or who you share it with.
If you email us
Send Feedback in Settings opens an email in your own mail app, already filled in with the app version, the iOS version, your iPhone model and the screen you were on. If you share usage data, it also includes a link to your Clarity session, so we can see what happened just before you wrote. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can delete any of it first.
If you write to us, we use your email address, your message and those details only to reply and help you, and we don’t keep them longer than we need to.

Children
Olivet is made for adults and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it’s used. Because Olivet has no accounts, we hold very little that identifies you, mainly any emails you’ve sent us. To make a request, email hi@thulolab.com.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Olivet handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
